**We are currently accepting applications for new guardian home owners
I would love to personally keep every pup if I had the space and time to do so. Ok, not every pup but almost! We will never kennel any of our dogs or pups and want to ensure they all have the loving family home they deserve. It is not realistic for us to be able to devote enough individual time to all our breeding dogs like we would want to. Guardian homes give us the option to still keep back the pups we want but to place them in family homes until they are of age for breeding. Once your pup has retired then we will have spayed/neutered and registration transferred slowly into your name and they are forever yours.
These pups are placed at a reduced price. You will be responsible for all vet care and expenses except while they are in our care during breeding. You are responsible for travel to/from when it is time for breeding/whelping. We require all guardian homes be within a 3 hr drive from our home. You must have an enclosed and fenced in yard. You cannot have any in tact dogs in the home. You are required to keep up on all current worming, vaccinations, flea and heartworm medications and will need to provide vet documentation yearly. You MUST continue socialization especially with young pups. This will be huge for your pup coming back and forth and being comfortable in our home and away from you. We will require they visit our home periodically so they remain familiar with our home and family. You are responsible for continuing basic training and commands. There will be a contract you are required to sign. If you change your mind at anytime then you may return your pup to us with no questions asked. This isn’t a fit for everyone and we understand that but there is no option of changing your mind at a later time so please prepared for what you are agreeing to.
For females, breeding will be started after 2 yrs of age and at least the second heat cycle. Once you have noticed your girl has started bleeding then we will need to be notified immediately so we can count and track days. Your girl will need to be dropped off for around 5-7 days for breeding. Gestation runs 63 days and she will need returned 10-14 days prior to her due date. She will remain here until her pups are 8 weeks old. You are welcome to visit while she is in our care. We understand 8-10 weeks is a long time away from your family member so encourage visits but please make sure they are scheduled.
For males, breeding with be started no sooner than 1 year of age and upon vet confirmation that both testicles have dropped. Once you have been contacted for breeding, he will need dropped off for 5-7 days. We will give prior notice of when we are planning on using your male for upcoming litters and will notify again once that particular female has come into heat, approx 7-10 days before drop off is required.
All guardian home pups will require future evaluation for breeding unless you are placed with an adult dog. We cannot guarantee what any pups will look like at maturity so once your pup is of breeding age then we will evaluate to make sure your pup is up to breed standard and that there are no significant faults that would prevent us from breeding. If that is the case, we will have your pup spayed/neutered and then registration will be signed over to you.
We are going to be picky about where these pups go. If you are away from the home most of the day, this is not the situation for you. You will need to have reliable transportation and be ready to pickup/drop off when needed. Communication will be key. Financial responsibility is a must. These pups will be part of our program that we have invested so much into. Our pups mean everything to us and we need to know that if any medical issues were to arise that they can be provided with adequate medical care. I know this may seem like a lot but it’s a lot to hand over one of your babies to someone else❤
Lastly, if we find out that your pup has been used for breeding outside our program or that they have been spayed/neutered without our authorization, there will be a $10,000 fine. Same will apply if your pup is neglected and not provided adequate care that results in death. Guardian will be responsible for any legal and attorney fees incurred.
